First Day of School Checklist

What does my child need to bring on the first day of school?
-Backpack: A standard sized kid’s school backpack works best (no mini backpacks or backpacks with wheels please). Your child will use this backpack to carry his/her communication folder, snack & lunch, classroom projects, as well as snow pants & boots in the wintertime so it’s important that it has ample room.  Please clearly label your child’s backpack with his/her name.
-Communication Folder: The folder that you receive during orientation will be your child’s daily communication folder.  Please send it inside his/her backpack every day. It will serve to carry important information from the school, notes from home, and your child’s schoolwork.
-Snack & Lunch: Please pack your child a snack every day.  For students who will attend from 9:15 - 1:15, please also pack a lunch daily.  Think healthy and please refer to the ECDC handbook for information on food restrictions.  Please label your child’s brown bag or a lunchbox with his/her name. Please plan to pack lunch in a separate lunchbox or container from snack and indicate which is lunch/snack.  Please keep classroom allergy and/or food restrictions in mind as you pack food for your child.  You can find that information in the letter you receive during orientation from our school nurse.
-Extra Clothes: Send in a Ziploc bag containing extra clothes for your child (a FULL change of clothes including shirt, pants, underwear, and socks).  These clothes will stay at school. Label the Ziploc bag and each article of clothing with your child’s name.
-Diapers/Wipes: If your child is wearing diapers, please send in several (5-7) diapers for us to keep at school and a package of wipes.  We will let you know when we are running low.
-Attire: Please dress your child in play clothes.  We get messy and have a lot of fun exploring different materials.  Sneakers are the best choice for footwear. Please be sure your child is dressed to go outside each school day.  Time on the playground is part of our curriculum and we do our best to go out each day (weather permitting).
